Dear Neighbors,
We would like to introduce you to the building neighbor caring program, Know Your Neighbor.
The Know Your Neighbor committee was founded in 2009 as a program to educate residents about emergency preparedness and to bring neighbors together.
We all live at 300 West 23rd Street by choice — we’ve created our own vertical community.
The committee has defined its purpose with a mission statement as follows: “to strengthen relationships in our building so that residents and their pets are living in a secure, supportive community.”
Some residents have special needs … whether physical, mobility, hearing, vision, or dietary. During Superstorm Sandy, floor captains from the committee lit their hallways with glowsticks in the early part of the blackout … then checked on neighbors periodically.
The committee is planning building-wide social functions for the future, too.
The committee meets quarterly at a member’s apartment. Refreshments are served. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and participate in our vertical community.
